Fargo looks to keep historic run alive at Little League World Series

20 August 2023

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – They’ve already won the hearts of North Dakota.

Now the 12 little leaguers from Fargo are trying to get that first win at the Little League World Series after a heartbreaking loss in the first round.

The team spent 45 minutes taking batting and fielding practice Saturday.

The players for the most part were relaxed.

“Tough lost, they were a good team, but it’s just fun to play,” said first baseman Blake Ostrom.

Fargo out hit the little league team from Texas Friday night 3 to 2, but lost the game 6 to 2.

“They were a good team, we didn’t give up and we tried as hard as we could,” said pitcher Reese Evenson.

Give up is not in this team’s vocabulary.

Fargo played its way through the elimination bracket to get here to Williamsport.

“These kids are ready to play, we want to show what we can do, these kids are very resilient. It’s fun to see. After the game they ate pizza and looked at their pins,” said coach Chad Hanson.

Coach Hanson says nothing will change going into Sunday’s elimination game saying his players were loose and had fun Friday night, and he couldn’t be more proud of his team’s performance despite what the scoreboard showed at the end.

“Hit the ball through someone, play really good defense, be good teammates,” said Evenson about the team’s game plan.

“I want to win a game. I want to show how we can do, I want to prove North Dakota can play baseball,” said Hanson.
