Mets place starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco on waivers: reports

29 August 2023

The Mets placed right-hander Carlos Carrasco on waivers, according to reports.

The move, first reported by The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, seemingly puts an end to the righty’s rocky tenure in Queens. Carrasco landed in Queens alongside Francisco Lindor after being traded from Cleveland in 2021. He started 61 games with the Mets and owned a 19-20 record. The right-hander posted a 5.21 ERA in 295.2 innings pitched with the club.

He also dealt with myriad injuries since his arrival in Queens, including an elbow injury that forced him to miss a month this season.

The news comes on the same day the Yankees placed outfielder Harrison Bader on waivers. The Bronx Bombers also released three-time All-Star Josh Donaldson on Tuesday.

This is a developing story. Check back for more details.
