DULUTH Minnesota Department of Transportation officials announced plans to replace a culvert that crosses state Highway 61.
The work is slated to begin Wednesday, forcing southbound traffic to be rerouted between Silver Bay and Beaver Bay. The detour will take motorists around the work by way of Lake County Road 11 in Silver Bay to Lake County Road 4/Lax Lake Road on the return back to Highway 61 in Beaver Bay.
Northbound traffic will be affected, as well, with intermittent lane shifts and shoulder closures.
