MONTEVIDEO, Minn. An Appleton man was killed and four others injured in a two-vehicle crash on Minnesota Highway 7/U.S. Highway 59 in Chippewa County at 4:19 p.m. on Sunday.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported that Curtis Dean Olson, 35, of Appleton, died.
His passenger, Amy Marie Olson, 29, of Appleton, was transported to the Appleton Area Health Hospital for life-threatening injuries. Two other passengers, Derrick Quienton Olson, 13, and Shawn Ronnie Olson, 15, both of Appleton, were transported to the Appleton hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.
The driver of the second vehicle in the crash, Presley Lynn Boogaard, 31, of Odessa in Big Stone County, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening. It was not reported whether she received care.
According to the accident report, Curtis Olson was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup southbound on Highway 7/59. Boogaard was driving a 2007 Jeep Commander northbound on Highway 7/59. The two vehicles collided near Milepost 59.
The drivers and passengers were all wearing seat belts.
