Photos: Snowy Halloween morning in Superior

31 October 2023

SUPERIOR Residents woke to a scene that looked more like Christmas than Halloween on Tuesday morning, Oct. 31. The first coating of snow fell overnight, covering almost everything in a clean white blanket.

Most Halloween yard decorations were covered in snow. But for Marc and Rachel Sienkiewicz, it wasn’t a problem.

“We put our stuff out on Halloween morning,” said Marc Sienkiewicz.

The couple has many pieces that move, so they wait until the day of Halloween to fill their yard with monsters and beasts along East Fifth Street in Superior.

“We shut off the lights about 8:30 p.m. and move everything back in,” Marc said with a laugh.

Areas of Superior received as much as 3.7 inches of snow as of Tuesday morning. Maple got 4.4 inches, Solon Springs had 6.9 inches and a resident north of Two Harbors reported the most snow in the region Tuesday morning at 8.4 inches. Most neighborhoods in Duluth saw under 2 inches.
