The Oliver company has opened the Glen Mine in Chisholm, while work on the underground properties of the Hanna Ore Mining company will continue throughout the winter. The Shenango Furnace Company is also continuing work and plans to furnish steady employment in the city.

Two men driving home from church services were struck and killed by a train in Superior, while their wives were critically injured. Meanwhile, a Duluth woman was killed by a car after getting off a bus on the same corner where a teenage boy was fatally struck Sept. 17.

Twin Ports toy and department stores cannot meet the demand for Cabbage Patch Kids dolls. Duluth Target has already sold 400-500 of the dolls and, to avoid “disaster,” won’t reveal when a new shipment is expected.

Hermantown police say they are looking for three men they say tried to pull a 17-year-old girl into a car as she walked along Minnesota Highway 194 after her car stalled. The alleged abduction was thwarted when a passerby stopped at the scene.
