A man found dead in a White Bear Lake home during a break-in died by suicide, police said Tuesday.
Police have not found a connection between Caleb Andrew Bell, 27, and the home’s residents, according to Chief Dale Hager.
Officers responded to the 1800 block of state Highway 96 on a report of an in-progress burglary on Thursday at 1 p.m. A juvenile in the home reported someone had broken into a back window and she ran out, meeting officers outside, Hager said. The teenaged girl was the only person home at the time.
Police tried to call the burglary suspect out of the residence and went inside approximately 45 minutes after they were dispatched, Hager said. Officers located Bell dead of a gunshot wound and the Ramsey County medical examiner’s office determined it was self inflicted.
The investigation continues into why Bell entered the home; police do not believe the teen in the residence was targeted, Hager said.
