Minneapolis police officer, suspect dead in shooting that killed 3

A 28-year-old Minneapolis police officer was killed Thursday along with another person and the suspected shooter, report Dave Orrick, Liz Sawyer and Louis Krauss of the Star Tribune. The fallen officer was identified as Jamal Mitchell. He was trying to aid shooting victims when he was ambushed, police say. He is the first officer killed in the line of duty in more than 20 years in the city. A second officer, a firefighter and a bystander were wounded.

The Ramsey County Attorney’s Office says no charges will be filed against a St. Paul police officer who fatally wounded a man last December following a domestic violence call, MPR News reports.
