ISLE ROYALE, Mich. — A Superior man died Thursday while diving at a shipwreck in Lake Superior off Isle Royale National Park, according to a National Park Service news release.
John Nousaine, 70, died while diving on the stern section of the Emperor shipwreck. The depth of this area of the shipwreck ranges from 100-150 feet. Recreational divers on a private diving vessel reported the death around 1 p.m., according to the news release.
National Park Service staff, the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office and the Keweenaw County Medical Examiner responded. An investigation is ongoing.
