Proctor will have a national bank with assets of more than $750,000 as the result of a consolidation of First National Bank of Proctor and Peoples National Bank of Proctor. The two banks were founded in 1902 and 1917, respectively.

Seventeen Rice Lake volunteer firefighters responded to a frantic phone call about a fire at the Northeastern Experimental Station, only to find that the call was a prank. Assistant Chief T.M. Kephart called the prank “malicious.”
