Xcel restoring power to 150,000 in the Twin Cities and western Wisconsin following storms

Via KSTP: Crews are currently assessing damage and working to restore power to about 150,000 customers in the Twin Cities metro and western Wisconsin. Overnight, crews restored power for 50,000 of the 87,000 affected customers, Xcel said, adding damage is widespread.

Izzy Canizares at Bring Me the News reports St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter went through the Lowry Apartments to listen to residents’ concerns. Carter said the living conditions are “one of the most disgusting things Ive ever seen in my entire life.”

Kim Hyatt at the Minnesota Star Tribune is reporting services are planned for later this week and flags are flying at half staff for Hereditary Chief James “Jim” A. Loud, Ogimaa Binesi, of the Bear Clan of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa, who died on Monday.

Via the Associated Press: Two workers were killed and another seriously injured in an explosion Tuesday at a Delta Air Lines maintenance facility near the Atlanta airport.

Corin Hoggard at FOX 9 reports on Monday, St. Paul officially named the Eastern District police station after Officer Ron Ryan, Jr., who was killed 30 years ago when he went check on a sleeping man in a church parking lot and the man shot him.
