WORTHINGTON, Minn. — Christie Lee Eichner, 75, of Worthington, died as a result of injuries sustained in a car crash Friday afternoon on Interstate 90.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Eichner was behind the wheel of a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox, stopped in the lane, when her vehicle collided with a 2023 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Elly Jo Bibby Wagner, 45, of Redfield, South Dakota, at approximately 1:12 p.m. Friday. Both vehicles were eastbound on Interstate 90. The crash occurred at mile 45.
Neither Wagner nor her two passengers, Abby Jean Wagner, 11, and Jocelyn Jo Wagner, 15, were injured. They were all wearing their seat belts. Eichner was not wearing a seatbelt, and it is unknown if the airbag deployed. The state patrol also reports that it is unknown if alcohol was a factor for Eichner.
Assisting at the scene were the Worthington Fire Department, Nobles County Sheriff’s Office, Sanford Worthington Ambulance and Worthington Police Department.
