Wild fire head coach Dean Evason amid disastrous start to this season

27 November 2023

With the Wild having lost seven games in a row, general manager Bill Guerin has made the decision to fire head coach Dean Evason. The team announced the move on Monday with the Wild near the bottom of the NHL standings amid a disastrous start to this season.

“Dean did an excellent job during his tenure with the Minnesota Wild, especially as Head Coach of our team,” Guerin said in a release. “I am very thankful for his hard work and dedication to our organization.”

In addition to Evason, the Wild (5-10-4) also parted ways with assistant coach Bob Woods, who was in charge of the penalty kill, which has struggled mightily this season.
