A University of Minnesota search committee has identified four “lead candidates” to be the next university president.
The Board of Regents will meet Feb. 9 to pick finalists who will be invited to participate in a series of on-campus events the following week, Chair Janie Mayeron said in a recent search update. Only those finalists’ names will be made public.
Search consultants began compiling a pool of candidates in November, and the advisory committee interviewed 12 of the 46 candidates found during the recruitment process. The 46-person pool included five women and 25 people of color.
Joan Gabel resigned last year to become president of the University of Pittsburgh. Former Hormel Foods CEO Jeff Ettinger stepped in as interim president June 10.
