Boy, 13, killed in accident at haunted hayride in St. Augusta, Minnesota

ST. AUGUSTA — A 13-year-old boy was killed Saturday, Oct. 12, when he was run over by a trolley wagon pulled by a tractor at a haunted hayride event in St. Augusta.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office said that Alexander Mick, 13, of Rice, was pronounced dead at the scene.

At about 7:37 p.m. on Saturday, the sheriff’s office received a call reporting an accident at 4108 200th St. in St. Augusta, according to a sheriff’s office news release. This is the location of the annual Harvest of Horror Haunted Hayride, according to the release.

The caller said that a young male had been injured when he was run over by a trolley wagon being pulled by a tractor, according to the release. Staff and bystanders, including an off-duty police officer and an off-duty medic, rendered aid. A Stearns County deputy and others were at the event and responded, as well.

Lifesaving efforts continued at the scene but were unsuccessful, according to the release. The incident is being investigated by the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office.

The St. Augusta Fire Department and Mayo Ambulance service also responded to the call.

St. Augusta is located roughly 10 miles south of St. Cloud.
