Archie

“Archie is our sweet 4-year-old rescue cat and an intelligent guy,” writes Richard of St. Paul. “In this photo he is deep in thought (what is he thinking?). Archie knows he is not welcome on the kitchen counter, but strategically sits on a counter stool with his paws just over the line.”

Lucky

“My little guy, Lucky, loves long walks,” Troy wrote in an email to the Pioneer Press during a heat wave on Aug. 23. “Yesterday he actually ignored the squirrels, and his regulars who say hello. He just wanted to do his job and get inside to lay down. He loves to be close and cuddle, but can’t be close in the heat. So here he is staring up at me, in his bed. Hot!”

Today should be a great day for Lucky — and the rest of us — to enjoy a walk in the cool, crisp fall air!

A Corgi spotted at a dog party in Inver Grove Heights.

The Morning Report happened to be at the dog park in Inver Grove Heights on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, and couldn’t resist sharing this photo of one of the dogs at the nearby “Let’s Pawty” Halloween Dog Event at Heritage Village Park.

Henri at Halloween.

“Here is an older photo of our dear Cornish Rex grandcat, Henri,” writes Deb of Onalaska, Wis. “Henri is no longer with us, but he lives on in spirit and in our memories!”

Sophie, costumed.

“Here are some fun dog costume photos,” Kristen writes. “Sophie, our Black Mouth Cur, as a reindeer (left) and a one-of-a-kind costume we made of a Valentine’s Day box for school.”

“Our dogs, Skipper & Archie, like to get into the spirit!” Madonna writes. “They warm my heart and make me smile.”

Lord Stanley

“I saw you had a call out for pets in costumes,” Samantha wrote. “Here’s my guy, Lord Stanley, dressed as Uncle Sam. It’s very versatile and we bust it out for Halloween but also for the Fourth of July and Labor Day! He’s not the biggest fan of the hat, but he loves the vest. Perhaps because it is like his harness that we use to walk him outside?

“Originally Lord Stanley was a stray from the streets of Chicago (hence the name — the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup that year) but has found that he likes the quiet life in the suburbs of St. Paul more. Now if only he can bring some of that good luck to the Minnesota Wild, all will be grand!”

Perhaps you will bring us luck, Lord Stanley!

Odin and Merlin.

“I love reading the Pioneer Press every day and seeing the pet pictures! ” Kim writes. “My two cats are Animal Humane Society rescues who keep me busy and laughing. I adopted Merlin in 2016 and Odin in 2019. Here they are in their Halloween costumes from a couple years ago.

“I often call Merlin my little prince, so he is wearing a crown (he tolerated it for a few minutes). Odin loves watching squirrels and often acts like one with his crazy antics and puffy tail, so he is wearing a squirrel pirate on his back.”

Oliver

Over the summer, during our camera roll challenge, we shared a photo of Oliver from the doggie ICU at the University of Minnesota.

At the time, the Pomapoo had perked up with the help of some oxygen.

Sadly, though, Oliver has since passed away.

“We miss him dearly and still grieve deeply for him every single day, ” Debbie writes. “We called him ‘Our Little Spark of Joy’ as he brought sunshine and laughter to our days. He was just a little nugget, but he had so much personality. A piece of our hearts will always be missing with the loss of our happy little boy.”

Here is a photo of Oliver in his younger days, running and joyful.
