23 October 2023

ROCHESTER, Minn. A 30-year-old Rochester doctor who is accused of poisoning his wife this summer was arrested Friday, Oct. 20, according to Rochester Police Capt. Casey Moilanen.

Connor Bowman is expected to appear in an Olmsted County Courtroom on Monday, Oct. 23, on charges related to the death of his wife, Betty Bowman, though no criminal charges have been filed in court.

The two married on May 30, 2021, in Independence, Missouri, according to her obituary. The couple lived in Rochester, where Betty worked as a hospital pharmacist while Connor went through internal medicine residency.

“Her kindness and intelligence was noticed and valued by friends and strangers alike,” part of her obituary reads.

According to Moilanen:

Connor Bowman was arrested following a monthslong investigation by the Rochester Police Department.

Betty Bowman went to the emergency department complaining of diarrhea and dehydration on Aug. 16. Her condition worsened until she died on Aug. 20.

A medical examiner notified police on Aug. 21 that she was possibly poisoned.

Police arrested Connor Bowman during a traffic stop Friday on the 1800 block of Second Street Southwest.

Moilanen said Bowman allegedly gave his wife medication for ailments that neither he nor his wife had.

His work as a doctor included working for poison control.

He is currently in custody at the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center.
